Arc de Triomf

Have you ever had one of those days where you were completely unmotivated?
Where you woke up maybe just a little bit on the grumpy side for no apparent reason?
A morning where it takes everything you literally have to force yourself to take a shower and face the day?
You haven't?  Well, me neither.

But let's just pretend that today was sort of that day for me.
Enter Mr. Hubs to save the day.
He skipped his Spanish class to help me out with the kids. He told me to get ready for an adventure. He got us all packed and out the door. And all before noon.
His original plan was to go to the beach. Not that it's beach weather around here yet, but the beach has always been a great antidote to my self loathing.

So there we were on the train, headed to the beach.
We come up on stop "Arc de Triomf" when Nick says, "Hey, we haven't ever been here, let's get off and see what it's like."
Not in the mood to argue (or really to care either way) I get off the train, go up the stairs from the metro and......voila!

Oh sure it was no fancy-shmancy Paris Arc de Triomphe,
but it was pretty cool in and of itself.
And the sun decided to come out.
So I was starting to feel pretty good.

Nick Bahr to the rescue!

We then proceeded to walk down this lovely palm tree lined road...

And that's where we stumbled upon a large and beautiful park:
Parc Ciutedella.
This park includes a zoo, a gorgeous fountain, numerous statues, a small lake with row boats, and some play areas for children.
And it was shortly after we got there that the batteries in my camera died.
(Wouldn't want this day to get too good now would we?)

I did get a couple of pictures in the park, however.
Including the one above of Nick in front of the three dragon castle,

And this one of Paisley thoroughly enjoying herself in the dirt:

I guess we will just have to go back to Parc Ciutedella another day so I can take more pictures.
Preferably on a day when I don't hypothetically wake up a little grumpy ;)

What a great day it ended up being.
All thanks to a good dose of sunshine, a ray of spontaneity, and one fabulous husband.

It has to be said. On a day you MAYBE didn't feel so great, you make living in Spain look like a dream :)
