French Riviera (Part 2)

On Day 3 of our French excursion we headed to a little coastal town called Cassis - about a half hour from Marseille where we were staying.

(view of Marseille)

After finally finding a parking spot in Cassis -- seriously, you want a headache? try finding a parking spot anywhere in the French Riviera...ridiculous.
Anyway, I digress - after parking in Cassis we walked to the beautiful port and purchased tickets for a boat ride to see the Calanques.
Calanques are coves or inlets with steep walls of Limestone on boths sides. The amazing turqoise colored water, together with the white limestone cliffs, created a spectacular view. A highlight of our trip for sure. See for yourself...

Part of the movie Les Miserables was filmed here.

Pretty sure little PJ loved the boat ride just as much as we did.

This calanques had a beach in it.

Paisley and her baby won the lottery and actually got to drive the boat.

After the Calanques tour, we found some cold drinks and hit up the beach.
Although Cassis is a nice little town - the beach was pretty rocky.
No matter, we enjoyed some sun and Nick had a nice litte swim.

And it wouldn't be France without one of these things...

Day 4:
We drove 2 hours to beautiful Nice.
Our verdict of Nice: it's quite nice.
(we had fun with these jokes the whole time we were there)

In Nice, we walked along the Promenade des Anglais - and hit up Castle Hill where we had a nice picnic and checked out spectacular views of Nice, the port, the oldtown, and of course the beautiful blue coast.

The elevator up Castle Hill -
both Nick and I decided this picture looks more like a ride at Disneyland.

....a Nice port.

Paisley has seen and done quite a lot in her short two years of life -
but yet the things she enjoys most about our trips....the nickle rides.

Oh, and in case you were wondering...
Baby is still with us....for now.

Paisley and Nick played in the fountain to cool off, and this is officially the last pic we have of baby.
Paisley has a habit of tossing things from the stroller. Becasue of this, we have lots of one-paired-shoes.
Baby must have fallen out (or got tossed out by accident) and unfortunately was never spotted again.
When we made it back to our hotel later that night, Paisley repeatedly asked for baby because it "had a dirty diaper." But baby was nowhere to be found. Nick had to look Paisley in the eye, and very seriously told her that baby was gone, that it was lost and was not coming back.
He later reported that it was one of the hardest things he ever had to do.

Don't worry, I think a little gelato and French Pastry can fix any woe...

Our last day in France we went to church in Marseille and drove back to Spain.
But first we got to check out a little bit of what Marseille had to offer:

Roundabouts in Europe...aren't they so fun?

Vieux Porte of Marseille (old port)

I dare say this was the greatest Mother's day yet!
It wouldn't be possible without these two incredible little kiddos.
I am so lucky to be their mama - they bring me more joy than I could have ever imagined:

And of course,
a huge thanks to my rockin' husband for such a memorable vacation.
Nick, you're all that and a bag of chips.

Adios, France!
