Barcelona - Sagrada Familia

Last Friday Nick had a day off from school, so we jumped ship from our home in Sabadell and headed to Barcelona.

Barcelona is only a 45 minute train ride from Sabadell-

So I looked up a few fun things we could go see over the course of our day.

First on our list was the famous Catholic church/temple designed by the famous Antoni Gaudi:

Sagrada Familia

Once within our view, I was sorely disappointed to see that the church just happened to be under the construction on the day we chose to go see it.

It was still a sight to behold.  Pictures don't do the details or the magnificence of the structure justice.

We walked around it for a while and marveled at the different statues and designs.

After I got home I decided to do some research on Sagrada Familia and it turns out that it has actually been under construction for quite some time (not just the day we saw it).

In fact - it has been under construction since the day they started working on it because it still isn't completed!

Construction began in 1883 and they hope to have it finished by 2026-

talk about a project!

And of course we had to stop and enjoy some gelato...

which Paisley may have missed out on because she decided to snooze.

By the time we wrestled our way around the metro systems-

Which isn't a picnic with two kids and a stroller,

It was time to head back home!

We are really grateful for these opportunities to travel with our two young children - but we have discovered that touring isn't very baby/kid friendly.

Add in the need to nurse every few hours and change poopy bums, and it can become quite frustrating.

I've learned that you just do what you have to do. No matter the inconvenience.
